Sigarms

Sigarms P220

There's now a single-action version of the .45 ACP P220. It features an 8+1 round capacity, cold hammer-forged barrel and lightweight alloy frame. It can be had with Siglite Night Sights or regular high-contrast combat sights. It comes with either a Nitron or a two-tone finish. Suggested retail is $859 to $959.

In order to raise money for the families of fallen police officers, Sigarms has introduced the Concerns of Police Survivors commemorative pistol, a two-tone P229 in .40 S&W featuring Siglite Night Sights and custom wood grips. Each pistol has the words "Honoring the Fallen" engraved on the right side of the slide. Sigarms will donate $100 of each sale to COPS. www.sigarms.com, 603/772-2302

Smith & Wesson

Smith & Wesson M&P9c

Smith has come up with a compact take on its highly regarded M&P double-action-only auto. Designed primarily as a concealed carry pistol, the M&P9c is a 21.7-ounce 9mm with a 3 1/2-inch barrel and an overall length of 6.7 inches. It features a Zytel polymer frame reinforced with a ridged stainless steel chassis and a hardened black melonite stainless steel barrel. It's got a Novak Lo-Mount compact rear sight, but tritium sights are available. www.smith-wesson.com, 800/331-0852

Springfield Armory

Springfield Armory Enhanced Micro Pistol

The Enhanced Micro Pistol is built from the ground up to run short-action cartridges such as 9mm, .40 S&W and .45 GAP. Springfield engineers downsized the frame and slide and redesigned 15 different parts to come up with a production 1911 that weighs just 23 ounces; with its three-inch barrel it measures a diminutive 6.6 inches overall. The first EMP (at least we suspect it's only the first) is chambered in 9mm. Capacity is 9+1, and it comes with two magazines. www.springfield-armory.com

Taurus

Taurus PT 24/7 OSS DS Long Slide Pistol 45 ACP

The 24/7 OSS was designed to contract specs for the U.S. Special Operations Command. It is available in .45 ACP, .40 S&W and 9mm and features the company's innovative Single Action/Double Action trigger system. It fires normally from a single-action mode, but if the primer fails to ignite, the gun reverts to double-action mode to provide an additional try at the primer. The gun features an ambidextrous decocking lever and safety. Suggested retail is $600. www.taurususa.com, (800) 327-3776

Uberti Cowboy
Action traditionalists will want to check out two new cartridge conversion revolvers. First is an 1871-1872 Open Top. It's available in .38 Special and .45 Colt and features walnut stocks, a blued finish and barrel length options of 4 3/4, 5 1/2 and 7 1/2 inches. Then there is an 1871 Richards-Mason, also available in .38 Special and .45 Colt in the same barrel lengths with walnut stocks and a blued finish. Suggested retail on each is $450. www.uberti.com, 301/283-6300
