Make Your Own Adjustable Stock

From September 2001: Great gun fit is just a turn-of-the-screw away.

Converting a stock so that it’s fully adjustable adds at least 1 1/2 pounds to the gun’s overall weight. That changes the balance—sometimes significantly.

You’ve probably noticed that many competition shooters have an adjustable buttstock. On these stocks, virtually all critical dimensions can be quickly changed by the turn of a few screws. Both riflemen and shotgunners are finding these adjustable stocks useful and, while most are custom made, several firearms manufacturers now offer them as well.
