.257 Roberts
This quarter-bore classic is one of the original big-game/varmint "two-fers."
The .257 Roberts was developed by and named for experimenter Ned Roberts in the 1920s, who necked down the 7x57 Mauser case down to .25 caliber, and changed the shoulder angle to 15 degrees. It was originally called the .25 Roberts, and outfits such as Griffin & Howe and A.O. Nieder chambered rifles for it. In 1934 Remington decided to make it a commercial cartridge.
